Escape from prison Saturday, October 25, 2008
The Prison Break Half Marathon 10K and 5K Fun Run & Walk is
an exciting community event for runners and walkers
benefiting the Boise Rescue Mission and Idaho Peace Officers
Memorial. The event is open to the public and will
feature a scenic high-desert route in the farmlands south of
Boise, exciting starting-line ceremonies with the official
prison riot squad and a squadron fly-over of elite Formula
One race planes. Afterwards, the party continues with a
benefit tribute to Idaho's fallen peace keepers, the Rescue
Mission and a delicious buffet.

Birth of a Prison Break
One warm summer day in 2006 at the Moxie Java next Shu's
Idaho Running Company, Deputy Warden of Maximum Security,
Jay Christensen along with Steve Blake, CEO of BlakeUSA
Corporation and a small group of friends were enjoying
coffee after another training run with
BOISE RunWalk. In
the conversation, Jay shared his vision that the state
prison would someday be able to improve upon its
contribution to the local community, possibly by sponsoring
a small 5K FunRun around the prison. By the end of the last
cup of java, the Prison Break Half Marathon 10K 5K was
conceived and organizational plans began. Today the Prison
Break is the most exciting race event in the country.
Starting Line Ceremony
The run will begin at the South Boise Prison Complex among 5
of Idaho's 9 prisons. We will all line up at the starting
line on the access road directly in front of Idaho State
Correctional Institution (Idaho's Largest Correctional
Facility). Following a prayer to our Lord and Savior and salute to our US flag
during a the Star
Spangled Banner and patriotic FLYOVER, the highest trained
CERT (Correctional Emergency Response Team) in the
Northwest will start the race with a BOOM! The Prison
Break will begin and as with any prison break, the
escape siren will roar into the south Idaho desert with its
screaming alert. The most exciting race start in the world!
Benefiting the Idaho Peace Officers Memorial and Boise
Rescue Mission.
Participants and all members of the public regardless of
participation are able to make a 501(c)(3) charitable
donation directly to IPOM as part of the 2007 Prison Break
Half Marathon. You may donate by mail.
Additionally, a percentage of the net revenue from event
registrations will be donated to IPOM by the Prison Break.

We are a division of
BlakeUSA Corporation which
also does business in the State of Idaho as
BOISE RunWalk and
TriBOISE. BOISE RunWalk is Idaho's largest training
program for walking and running adults of all ages, shapes,
sizes and experience levels, and TriBOISE is Idaho's most
popular training program for triathletes.
